Based on international Human Rights lawyer Philippe Sands' multi award-winning book East West Street, this staged reading explores the lives of three men involved in the Nuremberg trials, and the music that connected prosecutor to defendant.  Philippe Sands performs alongside award-winning German actress Katja Riemann, featuring music from French Bass Baritone Laurent Naouri and jazz Pianist Guillaume de Chassy.  An exploration of the origins of modern justice. 

The following performances of East West Street will be in Paris in November 2018 & Brussels in early 2019, further details to be announced.

Marie Stopes, women’s rights campaigner and family planning pioneer, first published her controversial sex manual ‘Married Love’ in 1918, revolutionising the way people understood sex, desire, and sexual health. A century on, ‘Dear Marie Stopes,’ uses extracts from thousands of emotionally-charged letters Stopes received in response to the book to explore this unique snapshot of a society’s sex life 100 years ago. The performance takes place inside the Wellcome Collection, home to the archive of letters. The world premiere of Alex Mills' new opera for Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, commissioned by The Wellcome Centre and developed at the Barbican.

The Winter's Tale with The Hermes Experiment

Working with award-winning quartet The Hermes Experiment (harp, clarinet, soprano and double bass) in light of Shakespeare's 400th anniversary, director Nina Brazier and composer Kim Ashton have devised a new interpretation of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale during an Aldeburgh Music Residency, performed here as part of Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival.  Reducing the play to an hour's duration, the quartet of musicians become fully integrated into the drama alongside a group of five actors.  Shakespeare musically reimagined.
